If you go to post a photo to Instagram but then decide not to, you get the option to save it as a draft. Looking to know where are your drafts on Instagram? Read this useful guide to know where to find Instagram drafts for posting or deleting them.

Instagram started as a simple photo-sharing site in 2011 and is now used by over 1 billion people on a daily basis. Though its core feature is still sharing photos, there has been a lot that has been added as features on Instagram.

One such feature, which is a little unknown to many people, is the ‘Drafts’ feature, which means you can save photos or videos for posting later.

Sometimes we create multiple reels at a time where we just can’t choose which one is best. In such cases, we save them as drafts to access them later on. If you want to know how to find them, then you can check how to find reel drafts on Instagram.

How to use Drafts on Instagram to manage your Instagram profile effectively.

To gain more followers and get more likes on your post you need to constantly keep posting great looking pictures on Instagram, and a great caption with relevant hashtags (#) so that your posts can be discovered on Instagram on a large scale.

You may take photos and edit them in bulk, but it is not wise to post them back to back all at once.

And you can also not sit and write great captions and an endless string of hashtags every few hours so you can set aside time and do it in bulk.

How to Save Drafts on Instagram

You select a photo, make some edits then write a caption and add those hashtags, then instead of sharing it on Instagram.

You tap the back button of your mobile phone, which gives you an option to save the post as a Draft.

You can do this multiple times as much as you want so that you have got a bank of posts, ready to be posted whenever you want.

This way, you won’t have to go through writing captions and adding hashtags to each photo.

Where to find Instagram Drafts

If you are curious to know where are my Instagram drafts, well, here’s the answer.

Accessing the draft post is quite tricky, you won’t find any visible button that will take you to the draft photos that you have saved for later. So here is how you can find Instagram save drafts.

When you tap on the plus icon (+), that is for posting a new photo or video on Instagram. Tapping the plus button will automatically show photos from the gallery which can be selected in one tap.

You now have to scroll down a bit so that the saved Instagram drafts can be visible on the top, you will also find the manage option on the top right-hand side in the same area.

Check out this video for a better understanding of how to access the draft area on Instagram.

You can tap on any of the saved post, which will open the photo in the post editor, where the caption and the hashtag are already written if you have done that in the past.

Now, all you have to do is, tap on the share button on the top right-hand side to post the photo.

And whenever you are going to do that, it is going to make you so happy that you do not have to spend time thinking about the right caption and adding more hashtags every time you have to post on Instagram.

How to Delete Instagram Drafts?

If you want to know how to delete a draft on Instagram, here is how you can delete the drafts.

When you access the Instagram draft, step on the ‘Edit’ option that would appear on the top right-hand side.

Then you will be able to select all the draughts you want to delete from the Instagram draughts area. Once you are done selecting the photos and videos, tap on done and the Instagram draughts will be disappeared.

This is How to Edit Pictures Instagram without Posting

This article actually answers this question as well, since you can use the draught feature to edit photos without actually forcing them on Instagram.

Instagram offers 8 lot of different filters, and editing options for making photos look better.

Which also makes it a nice photo editing app as well, you can choose a photo, put a filter on it, make some other adjustment like brightness control contrast and saturation.

And once the image is finally done you can tap on the back button of your phone mobile phone so that it gives you the option to save it as a draft.

A new folder will be created on the storage of your smartphone, named Instagram, where all your photos, including the drafts, Instagram saved, will appear in that folder.

Who saved my photo on Instagram?

If you are looking to know who has saved your photos on Instagram, it is a completely different thing and totally and related to what we have shared in the certificate.

There is a feature on Instagram, where your followers are able to to save the photos in their collection so that they can be referred to them later.

When you browse Instagram you will find the save icon on the right-hand side of every photo or video shared on Instagram.

Although you won’t be able to find who all have saved your photo if your Instagram account is a personal account, Instagram does allow business accounts to look at the insights, one of which face showing how many peoples saved the particular post.

Note: You still won’t be able to know the individuals who have saved the post.

If this is something you are interested in, you can convert your personal account into a business account by going to the settings area, and tapping on add business account.

You can then convert your existing personal account by connecting it to a Facebook page (if you don’t have one you can create for free).

Once your personal account is converted into a business account, you will be able to view insights such as how many Impressions your particular post gets, all how many have visited your profile, how much is the reach of the post and how many have saved it.

I just made a couple just 1 week ago and they’re all gone. I’m going to have to retype the descriptions and other specifics, it’s my fault I didn’t save them but I just want to know if it was just me. Do they hold Drafts or do they get cleared after some time?

How to delete an instagram draft

As concerns my last question, what is the difference between deleting messages, local storage, cloud draft, etc. to deleting a telegram account altogether. Is a telegram account that deletes everything but the account itself the same to a completely new account?

*edit: Just realised the first question sounds weird, too. It obviously deletes the cloud draft, lol. Better question would be: what is the cloud draft?

Before, I remember being able to drag unwanted photos from my drafts down into a trash symbol to delete them, but I no longer have the option. Is anyone familiar with any updates they’ve made to this feature? I would just create a new draft, but annoyingly, my original draft doesn’t seem to have compressed the image (when I zoom in, the photo is still pretty clear), but any subsequent draft I create has worsened image quality — not sure why this is happening given it’s the same image, but if possible, I’d like to post the original draft without some of the images I saved to the carousel. Thanks!

I already assume the answer is no, but I thought I would ask anyway. When I was 15 years old I made an account on Instagram with one of those 10-minute burner emails (not sure why – who knows what goes through 15 year-old minds) and I posted a load of cringey teen stuff before eventually I was kicked off the account because I could not verify email.

Obviously since it has been years and years, I can not remember the password now. But I would really like the account gone. It’s so embarrassing and I do want to reduce my digital footprint as I move into working world.. There are people I know & am still in contact with who remain to follow it, but I do not want to bring up account to them and revive their memory to ask them to unfollow! Does that make sense? Lol.

I know there’s no hope of contacting Instagram because I would need an awful amount of identification and proof that I do not have. I have been waiting around for years to see if they delete this account but am losing hope. I would really like it to go.

Any help please!

I just made a 2 page long post, but posted the title with a typo, so as a normal person, I deleted it as I had already saved a draft before.

I went to find the draft and behold: It’s gone.

Any way to recover it?

So I work front desk at an office that rents out the whole floor of our building, and we sublet individual offices to small businesses and freelancers and the like. Part of my job is making sure our renters pay rent on time. We’ve had one tenant consistently behind on rent every month for basically as long as I’ve been here (

6 months), and every month it seems it takes more ridiculous measures to get her to pay her rent. We’ve threatened eviction several times before, and at this point I’m not sure even that scares her anymore.

We have a deadline for when rent is due, and if you pay after that you have to pay a late fee as well before a second due date, where if you haven’t paid by then, you get kicked out. That second due date was a few days ago for this tenant, and for whatever reason we had decided to give her one more chance to pay, the new deadline being tomorrow. My boss called me to ask me to email her letting her know of the new development. Yadda yadda, I talked to “corporate”, blah blah, you have until tomorrow or else consequences. I wrote it all down really quick at the top of a new email, something like “i talked to corporate, pay by tomorrow or we get ur ass”

Then I typed the actual email underneath and. hit send. Without remembering I had even written anything at the top.

Barely 2 minutes pass and my boss calls me again. Usually he’ll call me again after I finish a task just to let me know he saw it and cool, good job. But then he hits me with a “Hey, uh, about the email you sent just now. ” and suddenly I remember what I wrote at the top of the email, and good lord I’m going to lose my job aren’t I?

We have a pretty casual vibe at my office, employees swear casually all the time, but I’m fairly shy IRL and tend to keep quiet, let alone ever even thinking about swearing. And all things considered, “ass” is not that bad of a swear to let slip. But, when you’re trying to sound a little intimidating (or at the very least, professional) towards someone who owes you a bunch of money? Probably a big no-go, right?

Not only that, but I had CC’d other people on there, people from offices out of state were now seeing my “we’ll get ur ass” slapped up top of what was otherwise meant to be a normal email! I didn’t even have time to hate myself about it in peace, because my boss is still on the phone laughing about the absurdity of the phrase “get ur ass.”

Luckily my boss and coworkers seem. fairly okay with my fuckup, seeing as how annoyi

How to delete an instagram draft

Instagram rolled out support for Drafting Posts on Instagram for all users in 2016, allowing users to prepare a post and keep it ready with tags, filters, location, and caption for posting it later. This feature helped several businesses and creators in having their Instagram Posts fully ready prior to their desired posting time. Since then, Instagram has been receiving a lot of updates & changes improving its User Interface and Experience, especially this year. The recent updates include Dark Mode, Cross-App Platform Messaging, Reels, New Add UI, changes in the positions of toggles.

Tip: In case you’re running out of post ideas for later publishing, — download your older posts, update captions, add new effects, filters to a photo and post them as new. For this, you’ll need to do these actions:

  • Unarchive or scroll to your old posts and copy a link to them.
  • To get a link, tap three dots in the upper right corner of the Instagram post interface.
  • Paste a link into a tool for getting Instagram saved posts to download the photo in the original quality.
  • To copy the caption from the older posts, you need to tap “Edit button” in the post and copy the text manually.

Now you can edit photos and captions texts and reuse them as new on your profile, or save as a draft for future publishing.

Instagram has recently started rolling out a different button layout for different users. For some users, the Search toggle has been moved to the top right, beside the Messenger toggle to replace it with a Reels toggle while for some, the add button and the notifications toggle have been moved to the top right along with the Messenger toggle to replace them with Reels and Shop. Some users are also receiving a layout of 6 options on the bottom bar: Home, Search, Reels, Shop, Notifications, and Profile with the “Add” option on top. The new “Add” option can now perform various functions like posting to Feed & Story, Go Live, or make a Reel. However, along with these new & exciting changes, Instagram has also removed support for Drafting Posts on Instagram, first discovered by Appleosophy Media Editor Pururaj Dutta.

Recently found out that @instagram has removed support for Drafting Posts with its new update#Instagram

— Pururaj Dutta #AppleEvent (@pururajdutta) November 15, 2020

Earlier, to draft posts on Instagram, all a user needed to do is Go back to Editing and Filtering and then tap the back arrow on the top left which prompted the user to either choose between “Save Draft” or “Discard”. Users would be able to see these posts by tapping on the Add button, and a section called “Drafts” would have the post under it and they could either post it, edit it, or delete it. With this new update, Instagram will no longer prompt you to save the post as Draft. This change might be a gradual rollout and you may notice this change if you are having the new “Add” Interface.

Drafting Posts was an easy and convenient way to have them ready prior to the posting time. Instagram may potentially bring back this handy feature, which would be useful for many creators & businesses around the world.

The drafts feature makes working and editing on your Instagram reels just a bit less stressful as you can save them and work on them later when the creativity hits you. But there are times when you forget to save your reels properly or accidentally close the app and can’t find them anymore. Worry not, your drafted reels can still be salvaged and we will be showing you 4 ways how to recover your Instagram reel drafts.

How to Save Reels as Drafts?

Before moving on to ways to recover your reel drafts, you must learn how to properly save them so you don’t make the mistake of accidentally losing them.

  • Once you have shot your reel, go to the Preview button.
  • Tap on the Next button on the bottom right side.
  • On the next page, you can find the Save draft option below the Next button.

This will save your reel as a draft so you can access it later. It is saved under the gallery section. To access it:

  • Swipe left from the home page.
  • Tap on the Reel option.
  • Then go to your Gallery.
  • There will be a new Drafts option next to the Gallary. Tap on it and you will be able to find all your saved reels.
  • You can also find them on your account page under the reels section.

Now that we know how to save reels as drafts and how to access them later, let us check out how to recover your reel drafts in case you are not able to find them in the drafts section.

Ways to Recover Disappeared Reel Drafts on Instagram

Instagram has added a few features to help you recover your posts or reels if you accidentally delete them or did not save them properly. And we will take you through step by step process to find them. So without any further delay, let us look at ways to recover disappeared reel drafts.

Search your Recently Deleted Folder

Instagram added an option called “Recently Deleted” where your deleted items are stored for a month before they are permanently deleted. If you somehow did not save your reel before quitting the app or accidentally deleted it then chances are you will find them in the Recently deleted folder. Here’s how to find it:

  • Open your Account page on Instagram and tap on the three horizontal lines on the top right corner.
  • Select Your Activity option.
  • Here scroll down and you will be able to find the Recently Deleted folder.

Did you find your lost reel? If the answer is yes then let us move ahead and restore it. To restore your drafted reel follow these steps:

  • Select the Reel you want to restore.
  • Press the three dots at the bottom right corner.
  • Now tap on Restore.

This will restore your deleted reel to the drafts section and you can continue working on it.

Check the Reels Upload Screen

You might be editing your reel to make it top-notch when your phone’s battery died or you got a call and did not get the time to save your reel. Chances are it still might be available on the upload screen and saved all your progress. Here’s how you can check it:

  • Swipe Left from the Instagram home page to open up the Upload screen.
  • Tap on the Reels option at the bottom of the camera shutter.
  • If a popup message is displayed saying, “Continue editing your video” then your reel was saved.
  • Press Continue exactly where you left off.

Just to make sure it does not happen again, save your reel draft before working on it.

Update your Instagram App

If you think you properly saved your draft and still cannot find it anywhere then this could be a bug. Instagram users have often complained about their reels and posts disappearing which is fixed by updating the app itself.

  • Head over to Google Play Store or Apple App Store to check for updates.
  • If you see an Update option for the Instagram app then tap on it to update the app.
  • Once updated, check your reel drafts again to see if they are visible now.

Hopefully, you can find your reel drafts after updating the app. If not then they might have been deleted.

Q. How long are reel drafts saved for?

Your Reels will be saved in the Drafts folder for 24 hours so if you do not access them within a day then they will be deleted.

Q. Where can I access my reel drafts?

Reels drafts are located under the Gallary section. Just swipe left from the home page on Instagram and tap on the Reels option. From here go to the gallery and there will be a drafts option present next to it.

Q. Can you recover reel drafts after logging out of your account?

No, once you uninstall Instagram or log out of it your drafts will be deleted forever and cannot be recovered unless you publish them before logging out.

Creating a reel takes a lot of effort, time, and creativity so you don’t want to lose that one reel you worked hard on. Instagram, like its parent corporation Facebook, is no stranger to the odd privacy scandal.

From Cambridge Analytica to leaking user passwords and automatically tracking your location by default, Instagram poses a serious threat to your privacy. It also shares your in-app activity – such as likes, comments, your interaction with stories, etc. – with other users. And more recently, it’s been informing other users when you are active, and even the last time you were active.

Plus, with new reports increasingly discussing the negative effects of social media on mental health, it’s no wonder a big group of people are ready to log off Instagram for good.

If you want to share a little bit less online, you might also consider deleting or deactivating your social media accounts. If you’re ready, this article will show you how to permanently delete your Instagram account.

Deactivating vs Deleting: What You Need to Know

You can both deactivate and permanently delete your Instagram account, depending on your preference.

Deactivating your account is temporary, but whilst it is deactivated, your account, along with your profile, followers, photos, like, and comments will be hidden from other users. To restore all of this information and start using Instagram normally again, simply log back into your account.

Deleting your Instagram account cannot be undone – a deleted account cannot be restored. When you delete your Instagram account, all of your data, including photos, followers, likes, etc. will be deleted for good. In the future, if you choose to sign up to Instagram again, you won’t be able to use the same username again, nor will anyone else.

Deactivating an Instagram Account

You can’t deactivate Instagram through the app, it has to be done on a web browser on the Instagram website. If you want to take a break from Instagram, you can deactivate your account by taking these steps:

  1. On the Instagram website, log in to your account and click on the person icon to go to your profile page.
  2. Select ‘Edit Profile’, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click ‘Temporarily disable my account’.
  3. You will be asked ‘Why are you disabling your account?’, select a reason from the drop-down menu.
  4. Re-enter your password and select ‘Temporarily disable account’.
  5. Your account is now deactivated and it will be hidden from other users until you log in to it once again. NOTE: As per Instagram’s usage policy, you can only deactivate your Instagram account once a week.

Downloading Your Instagram Data

Once you’ve deleted your Instagram account, all of your data is gone for good – it cannot be retrieved.

Therefore, you may want to download your Instagram data before you delete your account, so you still have all the photos, videos, etc. that you have posted over time. To download a copy of your Instagram data:

  1. Go to your Instagram profile and select ‘Settings‘ (gear icon).
  2. Click on the ‘Privacy & Security’ tab and click ‘Request Download’.
  3. Enter the email address where you would like to receive a link to your Instagram data, followed by your password.
  4. Within 48 hours you should receive an email with a link to your data, titled ‘Your Instagram Data’. Click ‘Download Data’.

Step-By-Step Guide: How to Delete Your Instagram Account

Like with deactivating, an Instagram account can only be deleted through a web browser. To permanently delete your Instagram account, follow these simple steps:

  1. Log in to your account on the Instagram website. How to delete an instagram draft
  2. Go to Instagram’s ‘Delete Your Account’ page. Select from the drop-down menu your reason for leaving. How to delete an instagram draft

Other Ways to Keep Your Data Private

Many of us use a Cloud Storage Service to back up our important data and/or to store files. If you use one of these storage services, choose one that automatically encrypts your files. However, as the cloud provider holds the key to your encryption, they may be able to access your data and even share it with government authorities at their request.

You can get around this problem by manually encrypting your files yourself before uploading them to the cloud. Therefore, you will be the only one holding the key to your data. Your cloud provider will have no access, as long as you don’t also upload the encryption keys to the cloud.

There are a number of free encryption programs out there that are easy to use, even if you have no prior experience of manually encrypting your data.

Choose encryption software that is compatible with your computer and mobile operating systems, and with your cloud storage provider. Your encryption program should also have end-to-end encryption, and should never store your password.

  • You can easily delete Instagram Reels you’ve posted so that they are no longer viewable on your profile, other users’ feeds, or the Explore tab.
  • If you want to remove an Instagram Reel you’ve published, you can delete it by tapping the three-dot menu at the bottom right of any Reel and then choosing “Delete.”
  • From the same menu, you also have the option to archive the post rather than delete it.

Similar to TikTok, Instagram’s new Reels feature lets you create short videos from three to 15 seconds in length with added special effects.

You can easily record your own Instagram Reels and post them to your feed and to the Explore tab.

But nothing on Instagram is necessarily permanent, and if you change your mind it’s easy to delete or archive a Reel.

In this article, we’re going to explain how to delete Instagram photos and posts. Instagram is one of the most restrictive sites compared to other social media sites. Almost all the important functions that are important to users are, unfortunately, restricted.

One of them is multi-photo and video deletion. You can’t do this on Instagram. But you need to delete them individually.

Can You Delete Photos in Bulk on Instagram?

Unfortunately, this feature is not available on Instagram. You cannot delete photos and videos in bulk.

To do this, you need support from 3rd-party applications in the Android or iOS market. There are some applications for this, but obviously, we have not tested any of them.

If you want to take this responsibility and test them yourself, you can download them from the application market and try them out.

If you wish to use your Instagram password in the application, this risk is your responsibility.

Do not understand us wrong. We just want to warn you about some issues. You need to know everything about the pros and cons. Because we know there are some malicious apps in the market.

Using Third-Party Apps to Delete Photos

If you don’t have any other option to delete Instagram photos and posts, you can use third-party apps.

Here are some pros & cons of these apps:

Pros:

  • You can quickly erase everything in seconds.
  • Saves time.
  • You can select the content you want to delete.
  • Their use is simple and practical.

Cons:

  • Most of the applications are paid.
  • You may experience some security issues.
  • The permissions you grant to the application may damage you.

As you can see, there may be benefits as well as disadvantages.

For this reason, we didn’t want to share an application name here. We have only provided information about the general use of applications.

Deleting your business account from Instagram, one of the most popular social media platforms to ever exist for whatever reason, can be accomplished in only a few minutes.

It can be done in your office, at home, at the grocery store, in the market, and anywhere, provided you have the requirements.

All You Need To Delete Your Business Instagram Account

Before you successfully delete your business Instagram account, you need to have these ready.

  • The device the account is signed in on
  • Stable internet connectivity
  • Knowledge on how to delete the account
  • Your password
  • A few minutes of your time

How It Is Done

All it takes to delete your business account on Instagram is a 5-step process, and then mission accomplished!

1. Login Into the Account

You must be able to access the account first by inputting your password if you have signed out already to navigate the app and delete your account.

2. Search for the Delete Button

After you log in, click on the “Settings” option and scroll down to find the “Delete Account” option, and click on that.

3. State the Reason For Deleting the Account

Clicking on the “Delete Account” prompts a question where you answer why you want the account deleted. After stating the reason why you can then proceed to the next stage.

4. Re-enter Your Password

Instagram will ask you to confirm your password for security purposes so that they know you’re the owner that wanted to have the account deleted. After doing this and the other instructions, there remains one final thing.

5. Click on the Delete Option

Select the delete option, which begins to erase your photos, videos, likes, comments, followers, and other posts you may have saved. At this point, you have no access to promotions and ad-making.

Common Reasons Why People Delete Their Business Instagram Account

Business owners tend to have their business accounts on Instagram deleted for reasons best known to them.

Here are some of these reasons and a detailed explanation for them:

  • Low level of engagement
  • Hacking threats
  • Poor mastery of the social platform

1. Low Level of Engagement

Growing a brand or business online requires being consistent and exploiting the market in a good way after fully understanding how it works. Many business owners get discouraged when only a few people engage with their content.

2. Hacking

A weak password or an insecure network connection will expose your account to hackers who always have bad intentions.

These hackers take over the account, send messages to potential buyers, and scam them of their money. It is yet another reason why others can choose to delete their account.

3. Poor Mastery of the Social Platform

Not knowing how a particular application works can be frustrating, which makes it hard for you to enjoy the benefits of its invention in the first place. Most business owners employ social media managers for this purpose alone.

Instagram announced that the feature was coming back in March, and now, all users have the option to save their Instagram Stories as drafts within the app.

How to delete an instagram draft

As you can see in this sequence, posted by user @WFBrother on Twitter (and shared by Matt Navarra), the option is activated when you go to exit out of the Stories composer mid-process. When you choose to save a Stories draft, a new alert will notify you that Stories drafts are deleted a week after you save them. So they won’t be there waiting for you forever, but the option does provide you with additional scope for putting together more comprehensive, crafted compositions, which you can then share at the best time for your audience.

The feature could be particularly handy for social media managers who are looking to post at optimal times – though it is also worth noting that you have kind of been able to save and share stories, in different ways, for some time.

Up till now, all users have been able to save their Stories, by either downloading them to their device, or via some third-party apps. But those tools are not native to IG, and are generally not as convenient within your creation flow. By having your drafts within the app, you’ll be able to view them as they’ll appear to users, while you’ll also be able to utilize Instagram’s full feature set in your draft creation process, and post on the go via the app.

We asked Instagram for more info on the Stories drafts roll out and it provided this statement:

“Instagram Stories drafts are now available for everyone, globally. Story drafts will save for seven days before disappearing.”

So, another way to manage your Stories creation flow, and post at optimal times to maximize engagement. It may not be a massive shift, but it could be a highly relevant one for Instagram managers looking to make best use of the app.

If you’re familiar with Instagram you may know that once you add a photo to a story on Instagram, there’s no way to edit it anymore. You can’t change the colors, add filters, add stickers, change geolocation data, or anything else along those lines.

Instagram stories are different from normal posts. This feature allows you to make and share a slide show that appears at the top of your friends’ Instagram feed. Because they’re unique, stories can still be edited even after posting, but in true Instagram post-editing fashion, there are only so many things you can change.

Every device has a space for temporarily storing some data. That’s called a cache.

The main goal of data storage is to increase your device’s speed when opening and using a recurrent app or loading websites.

The cache also contributes to reducing the amount of data consumed when operating your device.

However, the cache can sometimes make your device slower, so you may want to erase it.

In particular, Instagram saves every search you make in the Search and Explore section to speed it up when you look for your favorite accounts or hashtags.

How To Clear Instagram Cache

Clearing your Instagram cache is very easy for both iOS and Android devices. All you need to do is follow these instructions.

  1. Tap ‘Settings’ on your Instagram’s profile
  2. Tap ‘Security’
  3. Tap ‘Clear Search History (for iPhone) or ‘Search History’ (for Android)
  4. Tap ‘Clear All’.
  5. That’s it!

If you want to know how to clear Instagram’s cache on your computer or your mobile browser, follow these steps:

  1. Go to www.instagram.com
  2. Click ‘Privacy and Security’
  3. Click ‘View Account Data’
  4. Click ‘View all’ under ‘Search History’
  5. Click ‘Clear Search History’ and then select ‘Yes, I’m sure’

However, please keep in mind that erasing your Instagram’s cache doesn’t guarantee that it will work better.

Also, don’t forget that the app will be slower the next time it’s used since it ‘forgot’ all the data to operate.

Have you ever been editing a photo within the Instagram app or just finished adding the perfect caption paired with the correct user tags only to get booted out and brought back to the news feed? Ugh, it’s the worst! Thanks to the social media gods for building in a feature to save drafts within the app in the final stages of an upload. The feature doesn’t seem to be available to everyone so take a look at how it works below!

Ok, maybe it’s not been as widely of a needed feature as you might think but its certainly been one of the pain points for me over the last few years ever since Instagram added the option to edit on top of add a caption and user tags. As a professional photographer if you aren’t running into it then you are widely under utilizing the features within the app. They are amazing. I always seem to be working on a caption or adding tags or finishing touches with the built in editing tools in the uploading, only to move away from the app and back realizing it never saved anything. The answer has always been to add the feature to allow drafts. I think they have added this perfectly and you can see how it’s treated below.

How to delete an instagram draft

How to delete an instagram draft

To begin, you must actually select an image and make some sort of structural change to the edit with sharpen, contrast, or whatever . You can also make a caption or add a tag and when you try to go back to your news feed it will give you a warning to save draft, or discard.

How to delete an instagram draft

Overall I think its a strong addition to the UI and one that heavy users or professional photographers might use more often than you think. People continue to tell me they are losing interest in Instagram and how its engagement rates are far under performing what they are used to. To me, if you want to grow a following or build a great portfolio of work, you need to continue to shoot and post fresh and interesting content. I still find Instagram to be my favorite social network and it excites me when they push out new features that are well made and useful.

What do you guys think? Is Instagram still as fun or fresh as it was 3-4 years ago? Have you lost any interest because the platform is becoming more like the mothership Facebook? Or are these types of updates and add ons keeping you around and interested in the future of the platform?

How to delete an instagram draft

Over 100 million people around the world snap photos with Instagram on their phones now. If you like the look of Instagram filters but would rather not broadcast the photographs to the world every time you snap a picture, there’s actually a (semi-old) trick you can use to save the pics without sharing them (for iPhone users, at least): all you have to do is turn on “Airplane Mode.”

Instagram is a fast, beautiful, and fun way to share your photos with friends and family. Our service is not just a photo editing application, so iOS users do not have the ability to save filtered photos before sharing them.

The loophole is that you can have the photo save to your phone while preventing it from being beamed across the Web to Instagram’s servers. On the iPhone you can do this by simply turning off all your connections to the Web (both cellular data and WiFi). That’s what Airplane Mode does.

On your iPhone, go to “Settings” and flip “Airplane Mode” to “On”:

How to delete an instagram draft

Now you simply use Instagram as you ordinarily would. Snap a photo, choose a filter, and then hit “Share” on the “Share Photo” page.

How to delete an instagram draft

The share will fail since Instagram can’t connect to its servers and you’ll see a “Failed” message on your Instagram feed. Tap the delete icon to wipe any trace of your saved-but-not-shared photo:

Check your Camera Roll, and you’ll find that Instagram has saved both the original photo and the filtered version!
