If you want to cut the cord or stop paying for an expensive cable bill, we have five ways for you to still watch your local channels

How to stream “frasier” without cable

Maybe you’re looking to save money, you don’t live in an area that offers decent cable company options, or you simply don’t have a television and you watch all of your TV shows and movies on your iPhone, tablet, or smart TV.

But you’d like to find a way to watch local channels without cable TV because you want to watch the news or a sports game, or your kids want to watch Saturday morning cartoons.

Well we have five ways for you to watch your favorite local channel without cable. We’ll go over each one and how to get them, and hopefully you’ll leave this video with one or even a couple of options for you.

How to watch local TV channels over the internet

  • Purchase an HD antenna
  • Subscribe to the TV channel’s app
  • Live TV streaming app subscription
  • Live stream local channel news online on their website
  • Watch the clips on Youtube

Five ways to watch local channels without cable

1. HD antenna

We recommend the Gesobyte Amplified TV Antenna or the 1byone Amplified HDTV Antenna. An HD antenna is especially perfect for those who want a traditional TV experience. They are a one-time buy of about $25 to $65, they’re easy to set up, and you actually get more channels than you’d think.

The Gesobyte antenna costs about $30 and gives you over 40–150 channels with great reception. It has a 250-mile range, and it takes no more than 10 minutes to install. It also delivers channels with crystal-clear HD picture quality.

The 1byone antenna is $5 cheaper, a 200-mile radius, and gives you about 15–80 channels.

Before we get into the rest of the options . you should know, you’re going to need internet. So if you’re not happy with your current internet provider, check out our list of the best internet providers.

2. Channel app

The second way to watch local channels without cable TV is getting a subscription to a specific channel’s app. At most, these apps are $10 per month, but sometimes they’re free, and you’ll be able to find all of your favorite local channels in the app store.

There’s Paramount+, which gives you access to live TV channels, on-demand TV shows and movies, and Original content. Not only can you watch Star Trek: Picard, Survivor, and The Brady Bunch whenever you’d like, but you’ll be able to watch your local CBS station, CBSN, CBS Sports HQ, and ET Live 24/7.

NBCUniversal Peacock provides live news and sports coverage. This streaming service has 50+ channels, 40,000–$60,000+ hours of on-demand content. (The free plan gives you the lesser amount.)

Peacock’s on-demand library includes TV shows and movies like The Office, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Battlestar Galactica, Saturday Night Live, Saved by the Bell, the Harry Potter series, and the Fast and Furious series.

In the app store, you’ll also find apps for Fox Now, The CW, ABC, and PBS Video. These apps are easy to watch on-the-go on your smartphone, but you can also watch them on your laptop, tablet, computer, and smart TV.

3. Live TV streaming app

A popular solution to cutting the cord is subscribing to a live TV streaming service. And the service that knows how to give you local channels for a low price is Sling TV. If you’re just wanting local channels, why pay $50 or more a month when you can spend $35 with Sling?

Our rating 4.5 out of 5 stars 4 out of 5 stars 4 out of 5 stars
Monthly price $34.99 – $64.99 * $69.99 – $75.99 * $35 – $50

The Sling Orange package doesn’t have any local channels, but the Sling Blue package gives you your local FOX and NBC channels, among 40 other popular channels like FOX News Channel, MSNBC, CNN, and Food Network.

But if you’re willing to spend $65 per month or more for a live TV streaming service, we recommend YouTube TV or Hulu Live TV.

YouTube TV will give you 85 channels including your local ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, and PBS channels. You and your family can also enjoy Disney Channel, Food Network, and ESPN.

While these last two options (the apps and the live TV streaming service) benefit the whole family, the next two options are strictly for the newsies.

4. Live stream local news online

If local news is what you’re looking for, then the fourth way to watch local channels without cable is simply watching the live stream of your local news station’s newscast on their website.

Find the “Watch Live” option on their homepage, and there you go! Free news.

5. YouTube

And for the last and final way to watch local channels without cable: YouTube, the online video-sharing platform. Lots of major networks have their own YouTube channel where they upload clips of their news segments daily.

You can easily find the latest clips, search by keyword, and view their most popular uploaded videos.

If this video helps you, please hit those Like and Subscribe buttons.

And go on and smash that notification bell to get updates whenever we put out a new video.

If you happen to choose to watch news on your station’s website or on YouTube, then let me suggest another free option for you for your entertainment channels: Pluto TV.

Pluto TV is a free live TV streaming service with more than 250 channels. (That’s 150 more than this service had last year!) You’ll find CNN, NBC News, Comedy Central, FS1, Nickelodeon, and the History Channel, just to name a few.

Ditching cable or satellite for streaming TV is easier than you think—we’ll show you how.

Ready to cut the cord?

Admit it: You’ve been putting off dropping your cable or satellite TV service because you’re worried you won’t be able to get all your shows and sports from that “internet TV.” We get it, but streaming TV can deliver the full viewing experience in 2022, and for less money (in most cases).

This site may be called CableTV.com, but we’re all about connecting you with the right television experience for you—cable, satellite, streaming, or even an antenna (old school still works). Here, we’re going to walk you through steps to go all-in on streaming TV, both on-demand and live.

1. Upgrade your internet speed

Since you’re living in 2022 and reading this, we’ll assume you have an internet connection. For streaming TV, you’ll want the fastest internet service you can get. To avoid buffering and lag time, most streaming TV services recommend at least 7 Mbps (megabytes per second) of download speed for their service; we say at least 25–100 Mbps.

Why? Because TV is likely not the only thing streaming in your home. Web surfing, gaming, chatting, and all your other simultaneous online activities eat into internet bandwidth, so you’ll want more speed to keep up. Connection reliability is also a big factor, because no internet means no streaming TV.

We recommend fiber-optic or cable internet if they’re available in your area, since both can reach download speeds of up to 1,000 Mbps. DSL internet will also work, as will some satellite internet services, but usually not as efficiently or reliably as fiber-optic and cable hookups.

Having to pay for cable these days is no doubt an expensive luxury. Here’s all the best ways to watch all your favorite programming without spending big bucks.

  • How to stream “frasier” without cable

Having to pay for cable these days is no doubt an expensive luxury. Here’s all the best ways to watch all your favorite programming without spending big bucks.

Cutting the cord. More and more people are doing it. In fact, if this pattern continues unabated, the television landscape 20 years from now will look dramatically different than the one you grew up with. But why is this? There are many reasons, one of the simplest being there are many ways to watch TV without having to actually pay for cable (which if you haven’t noticed, can be quite expensive).

With today’s smartphones and tablets featuring advanced mobile processors, like Qualcomm’s Snapdragon for instance, watching high-resolution video is now a possibility anytime, anywhere. We simply don’t need to sit in front of our televisions to watch our favorite TV shows, and even when we do, we don’t need cable. Need proof? Look no further than the following streaming services. If you are looking to ditch cable, this is how you do it.

    HBO Now

How to stream “frasier” without cable

Did you know that you can view HBO programming without a cable subscription? For some time, this wasn’t possible. Until recently, you needed to have a traditional cable package with HBO to view the channel’s programming on HBO Go. That is no longer the case. For just $14.99 a month, you get instant, unlimited access to HBO shows, movies, and original programming on HBO Now. Watch on your smartphone, tablet, Google Chromecast, Apple TV, or ROKU. Go ahead… you’ll finally be able to watch Game of Thrones and see what all the fuss is about.

    Hulu Plus

How to stream “frasier” without cable

Hulu Plus is for individuals who like cable television programming but don’t like cable television pricing. Offering current season TV shows from ABC, Fox, and NBC, in addition to original programming, iconic shows like Seinfeld and Frasier, and kids programming, Hulu Plus offers quite a lot for just $7.99 a month (you can also get commercial-free programming for $11.99 a month). If you are looking to replicate the cable TV experience, Hulu Plus is for you.

    Netflix

If you want to “Netflix and chill,” you’re going to need Netflix. The original streaming giant, Netflix has taken pains recently to broaden its audience and win back subscribers from rival services. Among these steps is a significant investment in original programming, with hit shows like Stranger Things and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and a deal to stream Disney’s entire catalog starting this month. From Star Wars to Marvel Studios films, Netflix is the new home for family entertainment. Though Netflix may be the old man on the block, it still has several tricks up its sleeve.

    CBS All Access

How to stream “frasier” without cable

The two things you need to know about CBS All Access are: 1. CBS does not offer its programming on Hulu, leaving you out of luck should you enjoy CBS television shows; and 2. CBS is launching the all-new Star Trek: Discovery exclusively on the streaming service in January 2017. Yes, Trekkies are all but being gerrymandered into signing up! For fans of CBS programming (or Star Trek), the CBS All Access service is a bit of a no-brainer. You gain access to over 8,500 episodes of CBS shows, and can watch your local CBS programming live right from your phone, tablet, or Smart TV.

    Amazon Prime TV

How to stream “frasier” without cable

With Amazon Prime, you not only gain access to original programming (like the award-winning Transparent), a huge selection of movies, and diverse television options, but you also receive free shipping on all Amazon orders. Oh, and unlimited music streaming and photo storage, as well as instant access to over 800,000 eBooks. Not a bad deal, right? Certainly not for just $10.99 a month! If Netflix created the streaming service as we know and love it today, there’s an argument to be made that Amazon has taken the torch from Netflix and run with it.

Ditch Cable Today. Save Money Tomorrow.

There are a multitude of ways to enjoy television without having to pay for cable. HD antennas allow you to watch high-definition programming on all of the major networks, including PBS, NBC, and ABC. Streaming services give you instant access to hundreds of thousands of hours of television shows and movies. And then of course there is the never-ending well of creativity that is YouTube (your mileage may vary!). When it comes to watching TV in 2016, a cable set-top box is the last thing that you need. Buy an Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku or Amazon Firestick and cut the cord today.

Many networks require you to have a cable or satellite account if you want to watch online. These awesome ones don’t.

Rick Broida is the author of numerous books and thousands of reviews, features and blog posts. He writes CNET’s popular Cheapskate blog and co-hosts Protocol 1: A Travelers Podcast (about the TV show Travelers). He lives in Michigan, where he previously owned two escape rooms (chronicled in the ebook “I Was a Middle-Aged Zombie”).

It’s only natural for a potential cord-cutter to think, “Why do I need cable when I can just stream everything online?” Indeed, most of the major networks — from ABC to TNT — have web portals and mobile apps, all of them capable of streaming their current shows.

Just one problem: Once you ditch cable or satellite or whatever “traditional” (read: paid) service that pipes TV into your home, you may lose access to some of those networks. That’s because many of them won’t let you stream their content unless you have an active TV-provider subscription.

I’m looking at you, AMC. You, too, SyFy. Oh, and don’t try to slink away, TBS. Give us your shows! We’ll gladly (well, “gladly”) sit through your commercials.

Fortunately, some networks are more generous, allowing pretty much anyone with an internet connection and PC or mobile device to watch all — or at least some — of their programming. Here’s the scoop on what you can watch for free. (Note: Show availability may vary between desktop browsers and mobile apps.)

Home to popular shows such as “American Crime,” “Black-ish” and “Modern Family,” ABC offers only some shows for free; others do require a sign-in. For example, at this writing, you can watch three of the four most recent episodes of “Black-ish.” The most recent, however, meaning the one that just aired, requires a sign-in. And if you want earlier episodes or previous seasons, you’re out of luck.

Some shows have different restrictions. For example, the entire first season of “Designated Survivor” is available for streaming, but only the pilot and episodes 7-11 are freely available; the others require a sign-in. However, dig deeper and you’ll find an almost Hulu-level selection of “throwback” series you can stream, including “Brothers and Sisters,” “Felicity” and “Sports Night.”

CBS will give you some episodes for free, and lots more with an All Access subscription.

    Screenshot by Rick Broida/CNET

CBS, which owns CNET, has the best online streaming network in history! Ahem. Actually, the network offers a considerable library of TV, everything from current series like “2 Broke Girls” to soaps like “The Young and the Restless.” In between: classics like “Taxi” and “Star Trek” (every series to date, including the upcoming ” Discovery “) and every single episode of “Frasier.” You’ll find a total of around 100 shows, new and old alike.

However, while you can watch a smattering of episodes for free (the number varies from show to show), it’s not a sign-in you’ll need to access the larger library — it’s a subscription to CBS All Access . The service costs $5.99 per month, or $9.99 if you want to watch commercial-free.

Fox makes full current seasons available, but you’ll need a sign-in for all but the most recent episodes.

    Screenshot by Rick Broida/CNET

If giving up cable means giving up “Bob’s Burgers,” forget it! Fortunately, Fox employs a model similar to that of ABC, though with a little extra confusion thrown in for good measure.

Without a sign-in, you can watch the latest five episodes of current shows, and new episodes of returning shows unlock eight days after airing on TV. However, the Fox site imposes a “Preview Pass” that limits you to one hour of free viewing (though not commercial-free). After that, it appears that you’ll need a sign-in if you want to continue watching in your browser. The mobile apps don’t seem to have that limitation.

NBC’s model is also similar to that of ABC, with a mixture of free and sign-in-required offerings — but a lot more of the former, thankfully. You can watch the latest five episodes of “This is Us,” including the most recently aired, along with a couple weeks’ worth of “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.”

Even better, you can watch the entire first season of “The Good Place,” and NBC also has classic shows like the original “Battlestar Galactica” and more recent fare, including the pretty-good-while-it-lasted “The Event.”

All The CW’s shows are available for streaming without a sign-in, though not all episodes. Be sure to check out CW Seed as well.

    Screenshot by Rick Broida/CNET

    The CW

The CW’s deal is simple: You can watch the five most recent episodes of just about every show that’s currently on the air, from “Arrow” to “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” to “Vampire Diaries.” But there’s also a spin-off service, CW Seed, that offers free access to an eclectic wealth of extra content, including “Constantine,” “Everybody Hates Chris,” “Pushing Daisies” and over 200 episodes of “Whose Line is it Anyway?” This is an especially good source of animated DC shows such as “Vixen” and five iterations of “Justice League.”

    Other networks

As noted previously, networks like AMC, Science Channel, SyFy, TBS and TNT won’t stream anything unless you sign in with valid TV-provider credentials. That’s definitely a bummer if you’re interested in staying current on shows like ” The Walking Dead ” (AMC), “The Expanse” (SyFy) and “The Detour” (TBS). But Food Network, HGTV, History Channel and others will let you stream at least some of their content — usually a smattering of recent episodes of any given series.

As you’re browsing shows, look for a little “key” icon — that’s usually the indicator that a sign-in is required. Without it: no streaming for you.

So here’s my question: Given the hassles of hopping between sites and/or apps, the fairly major limitations on what you’re able to stream for free and the lack of any kind of offline-viewing options, does it really make sense to cut the cord? I’m all for saving money, but with a basic-cable subscription and DVR, you might find yourself a much happier TV viewer. And isn’t happy the whole point of television?

B efore striking gold with original series including Stranger Things and The Crown, Netflix captured and kept millions of subscribers by offering full seasons of popular shows like 30 Rock and The West Wing on its service. Series that were overlooked during their early seasons, like Breaking Bad, gained millions of new fans on the streaming platform too.

Playing host to these programs carries tremendous value, especially during quarantine. Committing to a new show can be a risk—what if it jumps the shark in Season 2 or, worse, gets cancelled during its prime? But revisiting critically vetted, familiar hits like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and ER is a reliable way to sate audiences looking for comfort binges.

As the streaming wars continue, networks and cable channels are launching their own streaming platforms—and outbidding Netflix for the rights to old, fan-favorite shows. Services like HBO Max and NBC’s Peacock, both of which launched this summer, offer new series like the Anna Kendrick starrer Love Life or an ambitious adaptation of Brave New World to lure subscribers. But in order to hold on to those new customers, they’re also building massive libraries of old content. HBO reportedly spent $425 million on the rights to Friends, while NBC bid $500 million for the rights to stream The Office beginning in January 2021.

Tracking where your favorite series are now moving and when can be confusing. Networks that originally aired certain series don’t necessarily retain the streaming rights. Downton Abbey has found a new home on Peacock even though the costume drama originally aired on ITV and PBS; CBS All Access is streaming Twin Peaks despite the fact that the mystery series first debuted on ABC.

To help you sort through the chaos, we’ve laid out where you can stream some of the most bingeable series in television history.

Cheers (also streaming on Hulu and Peacock)

How to stream “frasier” without cable

Let’s face it: both cable TV plans and satellite TV plans are expensive. Consumers are easily shelling out a couple hundred per month for TV, Internet, and sometimes even Phone combination plans. That’s a lot of money to pay out for Internet access, as well as for access to the only couple of channels we watch per month, compared to the hundreds, if not thousands available to us.

That’s why cable cutting has gotten so popular — consumers would rather pay for one or two channels that they watch regularly, than for hundreds of channels that they’ve never even visited. Is it really that easy, though? Yes! If you follow along with us below, we’ll show you how you too can watch TV without cable or satellite subscriptions. Let’s dive right in.

    The advent of cable-cutting

Cable-cutting started a few years back, when streaming devices like the Fire TV stick appeared on the market. We started seeing media apps launch on platforms like the Fire TV stick — and Android as a whole — that allowed you to subscribe to them, getting the same content that you would see on TV, but for around $10 per month. These are apps like CBS, Fox, AMC, HBO, and so many more.

Of course, it can still add up quite a bit when you start subscribing to all of your favorite channels. But not anymore: ever since Sling TV originally hit the market, this allowed folks to purchase a TV subscription on the cheap, and with no contracts. Slings and others discovered there was a market for something like this, and as such, we’ve seen all sorts of new TV streaming services launch that don’t require cable or satellite — only an Internet connection.

So, how do you start taking advantage of services like this? You can take advantage of a short trial from almost any of them, and then sign-up and subscribe. All that’s required is a streaming device, such as the Fire TV stick or Apple TV. Or, depending on the service, you may be able to get a streaming device for free, or, you might get the service’s own streaming hardware.

It’s all fairly easy to setup — once you subscribe, just plug the hardware into your TV, make sure the app is downloaded for the service, and then log in with the credentials you set. Alternatively, you can simply download your chosen service’s app onto your phone, and login with your credentials through there.

With all of that said, here are the best cord-cutting services that you can get started with:

We are amidst another thrilling NASCAR season, with some of the most talented drivers taking part in this high-octane racing series. The 2022 season is the 74th edition of the NASCAR professional stock car racing in the United States and the 51st season for the modern-era Cup Series.

As always, the season began in February and is set to run until November. Phoenix, Arizona, will play host to the final event on November 6, also known as the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race.

NASCAR is the most followed racing series in the United States, ahead of Formula 1 and MotoGP. Races take place all over the US every year, and tracks are always packed to the brim with passionate supporters. The race is tight as ever to crown this year’s NASCAR Cup Series champion. In 2021, the winner of the NASCAR Cup Series was Kyle Larson, who is looking to defend his crown this season. His Hendricks Motorsport teammate and 2020 winner Chase Elliott is currently enjoying an excellent season. Ryan Blaney, William Byron, and Kyle Busch are also in contention. With plenty of races still to come, we could be in for many twists and turns.

So if you are looking forward to watching the 2022 NASCAR season, we have all the information you need on how and where to watch the races live from anywhere in the world without the need for a cable.

If you are more into racing you can check out our dedicated guides to get F1 Live Streams and watch MotoGP races.

We recommend using ExpressVPN, one of the world’s most popular and reliable VPNs. Used by millions of people around the globe, ExpressVPN is very fast and works with almost every streaming service. fuboTV is our recommendation, as it is rated very highly among sports fans. You will also receive a 7-day free trial on fuboTV if you are a new subscriber.

How to stream “frasier” without cable

The Turner-owned TNT network airs some of the most-watched syndicated programming on television including Castle , Bones , and the iconic Law & Order . Aside from syndicated series, TNT produces several critically-acclaimed original series like Major Crimes, The Librarians, Animal Kingdom, Good Behavior, and The Last Ship . For years, watching TNT required a cable or satellite subscription, but today there are many different ways to watch TNT without cable. If you’re looking to cut the cord and still watch your favorite TNT shows, luckily there are more ways than ever to stream TNT.

    1. Sling TV

The Dish Network-owned Sling TV is gaining subscribers left and right thanks to its affordability, easy-to-use interface, and customization. For just $25 a month, a basic Sling TV package can easily replace most household’s television needs.

    • A “Sling Blue” subscription offers TNT streaming right to your favorite devices, plus more than 40 other networks (see the Sling TV channels list guide)
    • Sling TV does not require any monthly or yearly contract
    • Sling TV allows for multiple simultaneous streams on just one account
    • Sling TV is supported by iOS and Android mobile devices, some Roku streaming devices, Chromecast, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Xbox game consoles, or by most web browsers

Want to see what Sling TV has to offer? Give the Sling Orange package a free seven-day trial .

    2. PlayStation Vue

The PlayStation Vue streaming service is showing that the popular gaming console has much more to offer than the best video game titles on the market. The Vue service has been called one of the easiest and most user-friendly ways to cut the cable and provides streams of many of the hottest networks on television.

    • A PlayStation Vue subscription costs $44.99 a month and lets subscribers live stream TNT and dozens of others (see the complete PlayStation Vue channels list)
    • One PlayStation Vue subscription can be accessed by five different devices simultaneously
    • Vue includes a cloud-based DVR which can save users’ recordings for up to 28 days
    • A limited amount of Vue content can be accessed on most mobile devices and tablets, Roku, Apple TV, or Amazon Fire TV

If you’d like to turn your PlayStation into an all-in-one entertainment console, check out Vue’s free 5-day trial .

    3. DIRECTV NOW

DIRECTV NOW is quickly stepping up to be an all-in-one cable cutting solution. DIRECTV NOW streams over an internet connection and provides access to many of the most-watched cable and broadcast networks which were once available only through television providers. What’s more, DIRECTV NOW now has more add-ons than ever for a truly customizable cable cutting experience.

    • Base packages of DIRECTV NOW offer more than 60 channels, including a TNT live stream (check our DIRECTV NOW channels list guide)
    • DIRECTV NOW packages can be easily upgraded to include over 100 different channels
    • No contracts necessary; users can subscribe month-to-month
    • Premium cable Starz, Cinemax, and HBO can be added a la carte
    • DIRECTV NOW can be streamed on iOS and Android mobile devices and tablets, Amazon streaming devices and Kindle tablets, Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast, or on a computer over a web browser

Want to watch TNT online? Give DIRECTV NOW a shot with a free seven-day trial .

    4. Watch TNT Programs on Other Streaming Sites

While there aren’t necessarily ways to watch TNT online free, there are ways existing cable cutters can watch some of TNT’s most popular programming. Many of the major streaming services carry TNT’s original programs or the syndicated shows TNT carries.

    • Hulu carries The Last Ship, The Librarians, Agent X, Murder in the First, Southland, and Rizzoli and Isles .
    • TNT original series Animal Kingdom is streaming on Netflix and Amazon Prime

    5. Watch TNT App with Cable Login

Like most major cable networks, TNT now has its own dedicated app which allows users to watch their favorite TNT programs online. The app does require a television service provider login to watch more than ten minutes of the TNT live stream, but given that it’s compatible with most major devices, can still be a great way to cut the cable while on-the-go.

    • Users can choose from a wide range of on-demand content or a live stream of TNT
    • Catch the best in TNT programming including major sporting events, award shows, and the latest movies
    • Supported by Apple TV, Roku, FireTV, iOS and Android mobile devices, or through a web browser

    3. Paramount+ orders Frasier revivial

It’s officially official: Paramount+ is exhuming Frasier from the TV graveyard, ordering a revival of the Emmy-winning sitcom. And while Kelsey Grammer is confirmed to reprise his titular role in the sequel series, sources tell TVLine there are no deals in place yet for his co-stars David Hyde Pierce (Niles) Jane Leeves (Daphne) and Peri Gilpin (Roz) to return.

“Having spent over 20 years of my creative life on the Paramount lot, both producing shows and performing in several, I’d like to congratulate Paramount+ on its entry into the streaming world,” said Grammer in a statement. “I gleefully anticipate sharing the next chapter in the continuing journey of Dr. Frasier Crane.”

Chris Harris (How I Met Your Mother, The Great Indoors) and Joe Cristalli (Life in Pieces, Perfect Harmony) will serve as showrunners/writers, and the pair will EP alongside Grammer.

“Frasier is one of the most acclaimed comedies in modern television history and truly defines premium storytelling,” said CBS Studios prez David Stapf. “There has long been a call from fans for its return, and that call is now answered thanks to the amazing Kelsey Grammer reprising his iconic role of Dr. Frasier Crane and a brilliant creative plan from Joe, Chris and Kelsey. We can’t wait to reveal its next chapter on Paramount +.”

TVLine has learned that production is slated to begin this summer after Grammer wraps work on Season 1 of his forthcoming, untitled ABC multi-cam comedy co-starring Alec Baldwin.

CBS All Access is set to be rebranded as Paramount+ on March 4. The new service will combine original content with shows from CBS and cable outlets MTV, Comedy Central, BET, Paramount Network and Nickelodeon.

They better not f*** this up. I absolutely adore “Frasier.” It’s probably my favorite sitcom of all time.

Also, I hope they get David Hyde Pierce on board in at least a recurring role.

Lastly, I wonder about Jane Leeves. She recently said she wouldn’t leave “The Resident,” the show she currently stars in, to do a Frasier revival. I think things can be arranged so that Jane Leeves has some sort of role in “Frasier” without having to totally abandon “The Resident.”

But will it just be Frasier? David Hyde Pierce seems not to do regular TV as main cast only guest appearances.

It will need a whole new cast can’t see more than half coming back.

After missing out on playoff basketball for the past two seasons, the buzz is back in the Bay Area for the Golden State Warriors.

With Klay Thompson set to return from a two-year injury layoff, the Dubs, led by the league’s best scorer in Steph Curry have added some veteran experience in Andre Iguodala, Otto Porter and Avery Bradley, along with a pair of exciting youngsters in Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Warriors schedule and how you can watch the team throughout the 2021-22 season.

How to watch the Warriors without cable

If you don’t have cable there are a few options for you to stream Warriors games throughout the 2021-22 season.

-The good news is that fuboTV carries NBC Sports Bay Area, meaning you can watch every Warriors game live if you live in market. Unfortunately, if you live out of market, fuboTV won’t carry the RSN.

-If you live out of market, your best option is NBA League Pass. There are a variety of subscription options with League Pass including a full season package which includes every game live outside of your local market. Alternatively, you can choose a one-team pass that allows you to catch Warriors games.

-National TV games on ESPN, TNT and NBA TV are carried on a number of streaming services including fuboTV, SlingTV, YouTube TV and Hulu+ Live Sports.

You can find NBA blackout information here.

If you’re trying to cut the cord, you don’t have to give up your favorite Bravo shows like Real Housewives, Below Deck and Vanderpump Rules.

There are several ways to stream content from NBCUniversal’s Bravo network.

In this article and the featured video above, I’ll share my best tips to watch Bravo shows without a cable or satellite TV subscription. Let’s get started!

    1. Live TV Streaming Service

If you want to watch Bravo shows live as they premiere on the cable network, subscribing to a live TV streaming service is your best option.

NBCUniversal owns Bravo and other networks like NBC, E!, MSNBC, USA and more.

Unfortunately, there is no way to subscribe to only Bravo. You will need to pay for a bundle that includes dozens of networks.

The cheapest way to get Bravo without cable is with Sling TV.

Bravo is included in the Sling Blue plan, which carries more than 40 channels and 50 hours of cloud DVR storage for only $35 a month.

Other services like YouTube TV, fuboTV and Hulu Live also include NBCUniversal networks like Bravo in their base plans. However, those services start at $65 to $70 a month.

If it’s just Bravo that you’re looking for, I recommend Sling Blue. But if you have a longer list of must-have channels, check out the other options.

    2. Peacock

NBCUniversal announced in May 2022 that Peacock will become the exclusive U.S. streaming home for Bravo shows starting in the fall.

If you subscribe to Peacock Premium ($4.99/month), you’ll be able to stream new episodes of Bravo shows the day after they premiere on cable.

In addition, past seasons of Bravo shows are available to Premium subscribers.

Although this is not a complete replacement for a live TV streaming service, it’s pretty close.

As long as you can wait until the next day to watch, Peacock is becoming the go-to way to stream Bravo shows and save money compared to cable, satellite or a live TV streaming service.

    3. Discovery+

NBCUniversal struck a deal with Discovery+ in early 2022 to bring 12 reality TV series to the platform. They include some international versions of the “Housewives” series:

    • The Real Housewives of Cheshire
    • The Real Housewives of Johannesburg
    • The Real Housewives of Melbourne

Top Chef Canada and Flipping Out are two other Bravo shows that you can now find on Discovery+.

    4. NBC App

If you have a pay TV subscription, you can stream Bravo shows on demand from the NBC app whenever you want.

But even without a subscription, a limited number of episodes are free.

When you create an NBCUniversal profile with your email address, you’ll receive credits to stream any three locked episodes. Credits do not expire, but there is no way to purchase additional credits.

Three credits won’t get you far, but this could work if you only want to watch something because a friend or family member told you to check it out.

So you won’t miss the tee off

The Masters Tournament is one of the four major professional golf championships held each year in the first whole week of April. The U.S. Masters takes place at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia, with the champion taking home a green jacket.

The Masters 2022 is being broadcast on CBS and ESPN (in the U.S.), but how can you watch it without cable? Here’s how you can stream the Masters 2022 live stream online.

How to stream “frasier” without cable

How to Watch the 2022 Masters Online

Coverage for the 2022 Masters Tournament is shared between the CBS and ESPN TV channels. ESPN covers the first two rounds, while CBS Sports covers the final rounds. ESPN is also covering the Par-3 contest on the 6th of April, one day before the tournament begins.

If you’re a cord-cutter, you’re in luck — there are several ways you can watch the Masters golf tournament online for free. Because the tournament takes place over only four days, it’s possible to stream the entire event on free trials. Here’s the schedule so you can plan your trials:

    • Round 1: April 7th from 1-5:30 pm ET on ESPN.
    • Round 2: April 8th from 1-5:30 pm ET on ESPN.
    • Round 3: April 9th from 9 am to 12 pm on CBS.
    • Round 4: April 10th from 10 am to 3 pm ET on CBS.

    1. Masters.com

Masters.com is the easiest option for U.S. viewers to stream the Masters Tournament. It’s free, and you’ll be able to watch the entire Masters live stream from one location with only a web browser. They also offer an app for iPhone and Android phones that lets you stream the tournament.

How to stream “frasier” without cable

Whether you watch the live stream via browser or the Masters app, both options offer users a way to personalize how they want to watch the tournament. For instance, users can choose to watch each shot from particular golfers, featured groups, live play from Amen Corner, holes 4, 5, and 6, or holes 15 and 16.

    2. fuboTV

fuboTV is another streaming service that provides access to both CBS and ESPN, meaning you’ll be able to stream the entire tournament live online. fuboTV offers a 7-day free trial, after which the service costs $64.99 per month.

How to stream “frasier” without cable

fuboTV also offers up to 250 hours of cloud DVR storage space on their starter plan, so you can download and store the entire tournament to watch later.

    3. Hulu with Live TV

How to stream “frasier” without cable

The Hulu + Live TV plan covers both CBS and ESPN (including Disney+ and ESPN+ for additional shows and live sports). You can take advantage of the 7-day free trial. After that, it costs $69.99 per month. It’s also available on Xbox One, PlayStation, Android, and iOS.

    4. YouTube TV

How to stream “frasier” without cable

Paramount+ includes CBS and will grant you access to the last two days of the tournament. Paramount Plus costs $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year with commercials. It also includes a 7-day free trial.

    6. DIRECTV STREAM

How to stream “frasier” without cable

DIRECTV STREAM gives access to ESPN, but CBS is only available in their Ultimate and Premier plans. The Ultimate plan costs $89.99 per month, one of the more expensive options on this list. However, they provide a 5-day free trial that will give you complete access to the Masters Tournament. Most streaming devices support DIRECTV.

    Watch Masters Outside the U.S.

For viewers inside the U.S., watching the tournament is relatively easy. However, there are still plenty of ways to watch the Masters Tournament outside the U.S., including some of the streaming services featured above.

If you’re in Canada, you can watch all four rounds of the Masters on TSN, available via cable. In addition, TSN Direct offers a streaming service for $7.99 (Canadian) per month if you don’t have cable.

How to stream “frasier” without cable

In the U.K., the Masters is available through Sky Sports, which streams on NOW as an £11.98 one-off payment (for 24 hours) or £20 per month.

In Australia, live coverage is available via the Nine Network and streams on 9Now. Kayo Sports also covers the entire tournament and offers a 14-day free trial for new users.

Don’t forget that it’s possible to change your geolocation with a VPN to access geo-blocked services. Just get a 30-day free trial on a VPN service (such as Express VPN) and access the streaming service from your chosen location (i.e., within the United States).

    Don’t Miss the Tee Off

Luckily for golf fans, many streaming services now provide on-demand access to the major sports broadcasters so that subscribers can watch the entire 2022 Masters Tournament online without cable. You need a Smart TV or a smartphone and Chromecast, and you’re good to go.

How to stream “frasier” without cable

Just make sure that your chosen service covers both ESPN and CBS, as some recommended budget services (like SlingTV) only provide one of the golf channels, meaning you’ll miss some of the important action from the golf course.

You can watch the 2022 UEFA Champions League Final for free without cable, in a variety of ways as well.

The biggest annual club competition in the world pits Liverpool and Real Madrid head to head. These two teams met back in 2018, with Real Madrid winning 3-1. That game was notable for a number of reasons. For one, Loris Karius practically gifted Real Madrid two goals. Also, Gareth Bale scored perhaps one of the best goals in Champions League Final history with his overhead kick. However, Mohamed Salah exited the game early due to a shoulder injury in just the 25th minute. In the end, that game aired on FOX.

Much changed since then, including the fact that FOX is all but out of the club soccer scene. The Champions League coverage in the United States changed hands a number of times. Eventually, it landed in the hands of CBS and its streaming platform Paramount+.

Flash forward four years and a pandemic later, you can watch the rematch in the Champions League Final for free without cable. Streaming now plays a major role in the soccer media scene. With CBS owning the English-language rights to the competition, there are a number of ways to watch the biggest club game of the year.

Watch the Champions League Final for free without cable

Here are the different ways to watch the Champions League Final for free without cable:

    1. CBS network (over the air, free)
    2. Univision network (over the air, free)
    3. Paramount+ (free 7-day trial)
    4. fuboTV (free 7-day trial)
    5. DirecTV Stream (free 5-day trial)

it makes sense to start with the over-the-air channels. In addition to cable, satellite or streaming options, all you need is an antenna to watch the Champions League Final for free in the United States.

The game is on CBS and Univision for Spanish-language coverage. All cable and satellite providers carry these channels. Therefore, if you already have a TV service like that, you have the channel to watch the UEFA Champions League Final.

However, streaming is so common for sports fans nowadays due to the high costs of cable or satellite. Plus, some people want more specialized viewing experiences.

    Free trials on streaming

There are three different ways you can watch the Champions League Final for free in the United States via streaming.

All of the following options provide free trials lasting around a week.

Let’s start with Paramount+. The streaming platform launched by CBS is the home of the Champions League throughout the season. Many major European soccer fans in the U.S. likely already have a subscription to Paramount+.

However, for those trying to get access to just the Champions League trial, the seven-day free trial provides total access to the platform’s content. In total, Paramount+ has more than 2,000 soccer games per year. In the same manner, that doesn’t include all of the movies, shows and live TV it offers too.

For cord-cutters looking for a wider variety of channels, fuboTV and DirecTV Stream have channels that include CBS, and thus, the Champions League Final.

fuboTV also has a seven-day free trial, just like Paramount+. After the trial period, fuboTV is much more expensive. However, it does carry over 84 channels, many of which cater to soccer and other sports.

The same applies for DirecTV STREAM. This is the streaming version of the DirecTV satellite option. It is cheaper and provides ease of access without the need for a satellite dish.

The five-day free trial from DirecTV STREAM provides access to the channel CBS and Univision, which broadcast the Champions League Final.

    Series: Frasier

Number of Seasons: 11 (264 episodes)

How to stream “frasier” without cable

    What’s the show about?

A spin-off of the long-running NBC sitcom Cheers, Frasier follows supporting character Dr. Frasier Crane as he relocates to his hometown of Seattle. A licensed psychiatrist, Frasier takes a job as a radio host while also taking in his retired police officer father. Frasier and his father often clash as the white collar doctor often doesn’t see eye to eye with his blue collar dad. Frasier’s brother, NIles, is also a psychiatrist who visits his brother often to ogle his father’s live-in nurse, Daphne. Frasier’s circle of friends also includes his sexually voracious producer Roz and many other minor characters in and around the radio station. Frasier’s life is full of hijinks and a comedy of errors as he tries to navigate family, work, and a romantic life.

How to stream “frasier” without cable

    Why should I watch it?

The word “spin-off” doesn’t always evoke confidence in viewers. For every Frasier, there are countless shows like Joey that just don’t work. Cheers is often regarded as one of the best network sitcoms of all time which meant that Frasier had an incredibly high bar to meet. Somehow, Frasier is a superior series to Cheers in almost every way because it sets itself apart with a totally distinct format and sense of humor while still retaining the heart that made Cheers so relatable. Like Better Call Saul in relation to Breaking Bad, Frasier expands the fictional world started on Cheers but sets it’s own path and stands fully as an independent series. What makes it so good is the overlap between the two series is handled in such a way that you can get a little extra if you watch Cheers, too, but you don’t have to.

Frasier is a show that I came to late because the few clips I had seen didn’t strike me as very funny. It was not well into syndication that I began to appreciate just what a great show this was. With over 200 episodes, Frasier was already airing five nights a week on some stations while new episodes premiered weekly on NBC. In a lot of syndication situations, Frasier would be aired in blocks of two or four episodes, meaning you could easily binge the show. Frasier, like the majority of sitcoms, is a brisk 22 minutes without commercials which makes it perfect for a binge session. Each episode tends to be self-contained and is structured with title cards that tease what is to come in that act of the episode. Frasier would often resort to cliche sitcom tropes like broad humor, double entendres, and relying heavily on the laugh track, but it still feels more genuine than countless other studio sitcoms of the last thirty years.

How to stream “frasier” without cable

Harkening back to the days of shows like The Jeffersons and The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Frasier serves as a showcase for the entire ensemble cast. Peri Gilpin took the character of Roz from a sexy caricature to a fully realized woman who deal with single motherhood. Jan Leeves turned Daphne from a kooky British trope into a funny foil for Martin and Niles. John Mahoney, always a great character actor, started out playing the senior Crane as a gruff old man but soon turned him into a lovable grouch with a heart of gold. But top honors should be split between Kelsey Grammer and David Hyde Pierce who play the dueling psychiatrist siblings as the perfect enemies and best of friends. Grammer took Frasier from a stock character on Cheers to a snob that you love to watch. Between Frasier and Niles, not a single episode felt repetitive as they took wide glances and insults from low comedy to the highest art.

    Best season:

Later seasons of the series began to rely too heavily on sexual comedy of errors like Three’s Company, but they still are heads and tails better than most shows airing today. The best seasons were the early years of the show which had the tightest writing and pacing. Frasier never pandered to it’s audience and the first two seasons are the best examples of that. The Crane clan were the least integrated in the first season of the show which heavily relied on the disconnect between father and sons along with Niles’ hidden desire for Daphne. It also was in the first season that recurring jokes involving spouses Lillith (Bebe Neuwirth) and the never seen Maris. It may seem dated visually compared to more recent seasons, but the best part of Frasier is that it doesn’t rely on contemporary pop culture too heavily which gives the show a timeless quality.

    Final thoughts:

Frasier is highbrow comedy that never talks down to the viewer. Even when the show was dealing with rotating characters entering the wrong rooms in hotel suite or getting a pie in the face, Frasier always felt more like a stage play than a sitcom. The jokes are often easy to anticipate but it is the way the cast performs them that makes them so much more enjoyable than any other show. Frasier as a series is proof positive that casting is vital to the success of any comedy. NBC lucked out with this group of mostly unknown performers who turned out one of the single best television comedies of all time. Few of these actors have gone on to make additional sitcoms (outside of Grammer and Leeves) and for good reason: you can rarely improve upon perfection.

How to stream “frasier” without cable

You still can flip on certain cable channels and catch your favorite Frasier episode every night of the week.

The Cheers spinoff ran from 1993 and 2004 and focused on Frasier Crane and his loving, but somewhat dysfunctional family. On the show, Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) left Boston for his home in Seattle. He lived with his dad, Martin, and Daphne, Martin’s physical therapist. The show also introduced us to Roz, Frasier’s single, man-eating radio producer. And no episode was complete without snooty, comical Niles, Frasier’s younger brother.

The show is getting the reboot treatment on Paramount+, although it’s unclear what cast members will join Grammer in the revival. When the show ended its first run, Frasier was on a plane to Chicago after he packed up his life in Seattle.

If you’re a fan of the show, you probably wonder how your favorites fared since the original series finale.

Grammer won four Emmys for playing the perfectly complicated Frasier. And in 2006, he won a fifth for his voiceover work in The Simpsons as Sideshow Bob. Since then, most of Grammer’s work has come from behind the camera. He served as executive producer for a number of shows, including Girlfriends, The Game and Medium. You can see more of his work here.

David Hype Pierce portrayed Niles Crane. He was constantly taking out his handkerchief to wipe off his seat at Cafe Nervosa. He always was telling stories about his super thin wife Maris, who never appeared on screen. Yet, he moons over Daphne. The two finally married. Pierce won four Emmys for playing Niles. And when the show was over, he also starred on Broadway, winning a Tony for his performance in Curtains. He also received Tony nominations in 2015 and 2017. These days, he’s one of the stars of Julia, an HBO Max drama about the life of Julia Childs. Former Cheers co-star Bebe Neuwirth, who was Niles’ sister-in-law, also is in the series.

British actress Jane Leeves portrayed Daphne. She’s stayed busy on television, starring as Kit Voss on The Resident. Her first starring vehicle was on Hot in Cleveland, where she worked alongside Valerie Bertinelli and Betty White.

Peri Gilpin was Roz Doyle, Frasier’s always-sarcastic radio producer. In real life, she and Leeves are close friends and business partners, running a production company together. Here’s a fun fact. Gilpin first guest-starred in Cheers as a different character. Since Frasier, she starred in Make It or Break It, with guest roles in a number of top-rated series. She also co-starred in A Dash of Love, a Hallmark movie.

John Mahoney portrayed Martin, Frasier’s dad. He was the former cop forced to retire after getting shot in the hip. Martin watched TV from a hideous green and orange earth-toned recliner, which clashed with the apartment’s sleek decor. And Eddie, his dog, drove Frasier crazy. Mahoney, like Leeves, was British. And like Gilpin, guest-starred in Cheers as a different character. He did TV work after the show went off the air and was in the cast of In Treatment. He died in 2018 after a four-year battle with throat cancer.

Pre-game activity before game three of the 2019 World Series at Nationals Park.

TV Answer Man, I am excited about watching the Washington Nationals and Juan Soto this year. But I cut the cord and got rid of Comcast during the winter. Do you know how I can watch the Nationals on MASN without getting a cable or satellite service? — Chris, Chesapeake Beach, Maryland.

Chris, MASN, the TV home of the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals, is available in the Baltimore/Washington, D.C., area on such traditional pay TV services as Comcast, DIRECTV, Cox and Verizon.

But what if you dropped your cable or satellite service? Is there any way to keep watching the Nats and O’s?

MASN is available on DIRECTV Stream, the multi-channel live streaming service. In fact, DIRECTV Stream is the only live streamer that carries it. Hulu Live, Sling TV, YouTube TV and FuboTV all do not carry MASN and its Nats and Orioles broadcasts.

If you’re considering subscribing to DIRECTV Stream to watch the Nationals and Orioles, take note that you will need a Choice plan or above to get the channel in your programming plan. DIRECTV Stream’s Choice package costs $89.99 a month, but the streamer is now running a special $10 off the first three months promotion which would bring the price down to $79.99 until July. (The promotion offer is scheduled to end on April 30.)

There is one other way to watch the Nationals and Orioles via streaming in the Baltimore/DC markets. You could install a VPN on your streaming device and/or router which disguises your location. That would allow you to subscribe to MLB TV for $139.99 and watch your favorite home team in your market without blackouts. If that sounds ethically or legally sketchy, read our article on Major League Baseball’s latest position on VPNs and MLB.TV.

    One more thing about MASN:

The regional sports channel, which resisted offering in-market streaming for years, last year finally launched an app that allows you to stream live games away from home if you are a subscriber to MASN via a pay TV service. (You access the games by inputting your pay TV’s user name and password.) The live streams are available in the seven-state MASN territory, which includes Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.

However, a year later, Comcast, the area’s largest cable operator, is still not one of the 13 pay TV services that are participating in MASN’s in-market streaming program. DIRECTV, DIRECTV Stream, Verizon,, Cox, Spectrum and Mediacom are on the list, but not Comcast.

Chris, hope that helps. Happy viewing and stay safe!

Daphne didn’t, Roz still looked great at the end.

I thought Jane Leeves looked better towards the end of its run but that was probably because her hair style was crap at the start!

I seem to remember there was a lot of fuss in the US about it being aired in HD, it was one of the first shows to be broadcast in that format IIRC?

Her latest show, the well received Hot in Cleveland has been picked up by Sky.

As it’s a cable show, it may go on Sky Atlantic.

Thanks for the link. Have read a few good things about the show.

You’ve got to feel a bit sorry for them in a way as nothing will top Frasier but this may be worth a watch.

Pretty much all US shows have always been shot on film apart from some comedies back in the day.
Older US shows look great because they were shot entirely on film from start to finish but by the time Friends and Frasier came along US tv had switched to the cost cutting method of doing all post production on tape which badly affected picture quality .

So while Star Trek 1966 looks superb and is a great Bluray , the later Trek shows were put together on tape and no genuine HD versions will appear without significant expense.

I would be surprised if Frasier was ever shot in HD as it was too early except for perhaps the last season , so Paramount may well have remastered it from scratch but unlike the sci-fi shows there are no effects and other fancy post production that needs doing again .
Frasier ,like Friends could be pretty much a simple remastering from the original filmed elements although I would think any 16:9 version will be cropped as per Star Trek TOS on CBS.

Streaming video promised us a revolution of convenience and freedom from the burden of cable subscriptions. In many ways, it has delivered. We can watch movies with the click of a mouse and catch the latest episode of “Game of Thrones” right as it airs on cable television.

The downside is there is now a bewildering array of streaming services to contend with. We have Netflix, Hulu, HBO Now, Showtime Anytime, CBS All Access, Amazon Prime, and a host of other players. Even Disney will launch its own paid video service soon. Here’s how to handle all your subscriptions without driving yourself bonkers.

Tip within a tip: Many people hold onto their cable subscriptions so they can still watch sports and network television. But you don’t have to! Click here for a trick to cut the cord on cable and still have access to your favorite TV programs.

Find what you want to watch

Perhaps the biggest frustration with juggling multiple services is simply finding the program you’re looking for. You could open up each individual streaming provider’s site or app and search for that movie you so desperately want to watch, but that’s a slow and unsatisfying way to track down your entertainment. Fortunately, Fan TV is here to help you try to sort it all out.

You can visit the Fan TV website or download the iOS or Android app (Apple, Free | Android, Free). If you search for “Game of Thrones,” Fan TV will deliver a listing showing the seasons and episodes and which streaming providers offer the show and for what price. It also suggests similar shows or movies in case you’re browsing for something new.

Tech news that matters to you, daily

Privacy, security, the latest trends and the info you need to live your best digital life.

Fan TV isn’t the only option for searching through streaming archives across a whole host of different streaming-video services. You can also try out JustWatch. As with Fan TV, it will link you to where you can purchase or rent a show if it isn’t already included with one of your existing subscriptions.

    Add up your subscriptions

You pay $10 for Netflix, $15 for HBO Now, $12 for Hulu, $99 per year for Amazon Prime, $9 for Starz, and another $9 for Showtime. So where are those big savings versus cable?

Adding up the cost of all your services can be a sobering reality check, especially if you’re looking to save money over a cable subscription. Which ones do you really spend time with? Which ones are expendable?

    Cancel unwatched services

Most streaming services enroll you in an automatic renewal program. It’s easy for those bills to get lost in your credit card statement.

Let’s say you subscribed to HBO Now just to watch the new season of “Game of Thrones.” If the show is done and there’s nothing else compelling enough to keep you using the HBO Now, then it’s time to cancel your subscription. You can always start back up again when the next season arrives. Set an alert on your calendar as a reminder to stop the auto-renewal when your favorite show wraps up.

With subscriptions available directly through television providers as well as through retailers like Amazon, it can be a little challenging to figure out where you need to go to cancel. Here are links and instructions on cancelling some of the most popular services:

Hulu also lets you put your account on hold for up to 12 weeks, which can be handy if you’re going to be away or if you’re just waiting for the new episodes of your favorite show to arrive. Just be aware that Hulu will automatically restart your subscription once the hold expires.

We can hold out hope that one day there will be a simpler approach to streaming video services, but in the meantime, you can at least track down your favorite shows and movies and try to stay on top of which subscriptions you keep active.

By the looks of it, it’ll be a very merry Christmas indeed!

How to Watch and Stream Hallmark Christmas Movies Live

We have an early Christmas gift for you: Even if you pulled the cable plug, you can still watch Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries all season long. There are a number of streaming services that let you watch live TV and recordings anytime, anywhere at a fraction of the price.

All of these no-commitment streaming services are made with Hallmarkies in mind:

    • Sling: For $41 a month, get all 32 channels a part of the Sling Orange Service — Lifetime, Hallmark and ESPN — and an additional nine channels, including Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Drama, as a part of the Lifestyle Extra package.
    • Philo : At a flat rate of $25 a month, get 60+ channels including all three Hallmark channels, HGTV and Lifetime. Just in time for “Countdown to Christmas,” test it out with a free seven-day trial.
    • fuboTV: The starter package – 117 channels, 250 hours of DVR space, and screen sharing capabilities — starts at $64.99 per month. Before you make the splurge, try it out with a one-week free trial.
    • Frndly TV: For a cheaper alternative, get 24 of cable’s top channels — all three Hallmark channels included — for just $5.99 a month. Sign on for a free seven-day trial and connect it with Roku, Amazon Fire TV or Chromecast.
    • Hallmark Channel Everywhere: Okay, Hallmark’s free streaming service typically requires a cable log-in, but during the holidays they unlock a few Christmas movies, so you can watch ’em without signing in. And if you’re still sticking with cable (or know someone who has it), you can use this service to stream live programming on your phone, tablet or other compatible device.

How to Watch and Stream Hallmark Christmas Movies After They Air

    • fuboTV has a Lookback feature that allows users to watch any movies or TV shows up to 27 hours after their original air time.
    • If the movie is part of Sling’son-demand or lookback program, you can watch it whenever or even, record the movie with Cloud DVR Plus to watch at a later date. (Note: Your first 50 hours of DVR storage are included with a paid subscription, but then you’ll have to pay additional fees.)

How to Watch Older Hallmark Christmas Movies

Since Hallmark movies aren’t on Netflix or Hulu, your options are pretty slim. Some of the Hallmark Christmas classics like Candace Cameron Bure’s A Christmas Detour and Danica McKeller’s Crown for Christmas are available to rent or buy on Amazon, but a lot of the more recent movies aren’t available . yet,.

You can get more bang for your buck by checking out the “Movies & Mistletoe” event on Hallmark Movies Now. Each month, they’ll release popular Christmas movies from previous years, including 2018’s Christmas Everlasting with Tatyana Ali. Start with a 7-day free trial, then pay $5.99 for a monthly subscription to get in the Christmas cheer, whenever and wherever you please.

Your favorite shows can be on more than one platform or you might want to switch between ‘The Walking Dead’ and your favorite NBA match. For this you will need to go back and forth from your cable or satellite TV provider signal to your streaming. Amazon Fire TV Cube can handle that by just following the correct steps. Read on to seamlessly find all the entertainment by just telling Alexa the right commands.
[Note that for the following steps to have the desired results, you should have a working satellite or cable TV connection plugged into the same TV that is being controlled by the Fire TV Cube.]

Configuring your Cable or Satellite TV into the Fire TV Cube

    1. Go to the ‘Equipment Control’ menu
Access the Equipment control menu from ‘Settings’. Once all cables are connected and in place go to the ‘Settings’ menu of your Fire TV Cube and then choose the option ‘Equipment Control’. You can also just tell Alexa to take you there by saying ‘Alexa, Equipment Control’.

Controlling Alexa back and forth from Streaming to Cable and Satellite

There are many ways to go from one scenario to the other because Alexa can take on many words as synonyms.
For example, if you happen to be watching your favorite series on Netflix but want to go to see the NBA finals on ESPN, you can just say something like ‘Alexa, tune to ESPN’ and that is exactly what will happen, Alexa will tune to ESPN. Perhaps you don’t want to miss an episode of your favorite sitcom or late-night show and can say something like ‘Alexa, watch NBC’ and Alexa will tune to NBC. Also, when you want to switch back to the streaming platform, you can say ‘Alexa, go home!’ and you will be back into Amazon Fire TV menu.

“Imitation is the sincerest form of television.”

Fred Allen said it back in the 1950s. The great radio wit was already fed up with remakes. For every I Love Lucy there were already a dozen imitations.

Now we are well into another re-booting revival. Just this week it was confirmed by the new streaming service Paramount + (formerly CBS AllAccess) that Frasier will be back in the building with Kelsey Grammer returning as Dr. Fraser Crane. We don’t know when, and we don’t know if Niles (David Hyde Pierce) or Daphne (Jane Leeves) will be back. We do know the father character, Martin, will not. Actor John Mahoney passed away in 2018.

Other re-boots are coming. The Mighty Ducks: Second Chances, based on the three Mighty Ducks movies from 25 years ago, premieres next month on Disney+. There’s already a spin-off of sorts of Home Improvment on History, with Tim Allen and Richard Karn reprising their roles as “Tool Time” hosts in a new competitive building series called Assembly Required. With Disney owning rights to everything from Marvel to Star Wars to The Muppets, you can bet more remakes and re-boots are on their way.

There are limits of course. The only way to do a revival of The Golden Girls now without re-casting it is with Betty White holding a seance.

This subject was batted around Thursday as I took part in a cross country series of CBC Radio interviews. We talked about movie remakes, as well, with news of another attempt to come close to the 1939 MGM fantasy “The Wizard of Oz.” Apparently a non-musical adaptation is in the works.

May a house land on the writers. Why remake something that still stands up? The answer of course is money, as I explained Thursday to Dave White, host of “Airplay” in Whitehorse. Here are the two main reasons for re-bootapalooza:

    1. It is cheaper for a studio to launch a show where they already own the intellectual property rights. Paramount the studio produced Frasier for NBC back in the ’90s and into this century. Viacom controls Paramount+ the streaming service. They need exclusive content to lure subcribers in a crowded and highly competitive market. The solution? Go back into the vault and haul out some ideas that worked in the past.
    2. There are still around 500 scripted TV series premiering every calendar year. They are coming at consumers from broadcast, cable, specialty, and now all these streaming services. How do you best cut through the clutter and get your new series sampled? One way is to re-boot a known brand. Viewers have heard of Frasier or Sex and the City (a re-boot, without Kim Cattrall, is coming to HBO Max) or The Mighty Ducks (coming to Disney+). Many will at least sample the new effort once, if even just to look and see how everybody has aged. That’s all a studio can ask for these days.

This same strategy has seen The Equalizer and Clarice (based on “The Silence of the Lambs”) premiere recently on CBS. HBO has re-booted In Treatment, a psychiatrist series that just packed it in six years ago. Showtime has just announced a TV-movie spinoff of Ray Donovan bringing Liev Schreiber and Jon Voight back to their roles. Netflix has even announced plans to re-saddle My Little Pony.

How many of these will fail? Probably about 80 per cent, which is as many as the non-re-booted efforts. For every The Conners, a solid ratings winner after three post-Roseanne seasons, there are four or more reboots of Murphy Brown, Beverly Hills, 90210, Mad About You or Saved by the Bell.

How to stream “frasier” without cable

The Conners remains the blueprint for how to do it right. It even survived the ignominious exit of the title character — Roseanne — leaving behind one of the best sitcom ensembles ever led by John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf. While Sara Gilbert went from a child actor to executive producer, others, such as Lecy Goranson, grew some serious comedy chops. Enough of the original core production team returned to maintain continuity (including showrunner Bruce Helford and EP Tom Werner) and the right fresh writers were brought into the tent.

The key though was timing and relevance. Just as the world went cockeyed under Trump, here comes a familiar blue collar family still reeling and dealing with each other, with job losses, with COVID, with trying to hold onto their house. Viewers care about the Conners, now more than ever.

The other example of how to do a re-boot right was One Day at a Time. Legendary Norman Lear, stillin the game at 98, returned with the series but it was a whole new cast and a very today spin: a blended, multi-gender Hispanic family taking the single mom premise into the next century. That it lasted three years spread over two platforms (including Pop-TV) shows how even smart ideas can get lost in a crowded field. Still, if fought through, gained some Emmy attention and did everyone involved proud. All re-boots should be so lucky.

There is room, as well, for partial re-boots. A re-slipper? The West Wing reunited cast members for a re-staged performance of an old script, seen last fall on HBO Max and later Crave. It was re-staged in an imaginative, behind-the-scenes way and also raised awarness for voter registration in the States,

In 2019, HGTV had fun with the original six Brady kids. A Very Brady Renovation, which saw them restore the orginial Brady house, delivered the right amount of nostalgia and catch-up for fans without subjecting viewers to an umpteenth attempt to revive it as a scripted series. Allen and Karn are doing likewise with their current Tool Time spin off the old Home Improvement formula.

How to stream “frasier” without cable

Still, some old shows deserve to stay buried deep within the vaults. I’m talking to you, Whitehorse host Dave White (aka CBC Radio’s @YukonRadioDave) — I don’t see a revival of The San Pedro Beach Bums anywhere on the horizon.
